Communicating a new organisational strategy is about much more than publishing a document. It’s about helping people understand the vision, connect with its purpose and see how it translates into everyday care.
That was the challenge presented to us by West London NHS Trust, who commissioned Inspired Film and Video to produce three engaging films showcasing how the Trust is already delivering on its refreshed organisational strategy across its mental health and community services.
Creating authentic healthcare stories
West London NHS Trust wanted to demonstrate how its strategic priorities are already making a difference for patients, staff and communities.
The three films each focused on one of the Trust’s strategic objectives:
- Putting People First
- Working with Patients and Communities
- Excelling from Strong Foundations
Rather than relying on corporate messaging alone, each film tells authentic stories through the voices of patients, clinicians, frontline staff and community partners, bringing the strategy to life in a genuine and engaging way. The overall aim was to communicate the Trust’s vision clearly while creating content that would inspire staff, stakeholders, potential employees and the wider public.
Filming across West London
Producing the films involved extensive planning and close collaboration with the Trust’s Communications Team.
Over several days, we coordinated filming across multiple locations including:
- Ealing
- Hounslow
- Hammersmith & Fulham
- Broadmoor Hospital
The project required careful scheduling around busy healthcare environments, ensuring that services could continue uninterrupted while capturing authentic footage of staff and patients. Throughout production, we worked alongside the Trust’s communications team, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, sensitivity and professionalism expected when filming within NHS settings.
Working with patients and staff
Healthcare filmmaking requires more than technical expertise.
Many of the people featured had never appeared on camera before. Our experienced production team created a relaxed, supportive environment that enabled patients, clinicians and stakeholders to speak naturally and confidently about their experiences.
The films feature a diverse range of real NHS services, including mental health support, community nursing, apprenticeships, diabetes education, perinatal mental health, youth mental health ambassadors and innovative digital healthcare services. By capturing genuine stories from people who deliver and receive care, the films communicate the Trust’s strategy in a way that audiences can immediately relate to.

Accessible, engaging NHS communications
Accessibility was central to the project from the outset.
Each film was designed to be visually engaging, easy to follow and fully subtitled, ensuring the content could be accessed by as many people as possible. The warm, optimistic tone reflects the Trust’s values of Togetherness, Respect, Excellence and Caring while supporting communication with staff, patients, carers and community partners.
