Have Camera, Will Travel
Getting to travel and meet people is one of the reasons we love what we do here at Inspired. In the last week of January, we had the unique opportunity to film in three very different locations all called Newcastle.
It is not unusual for us to work in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire just a few miles from our offices in Stoke-on-Trent. Keele University used to be our home and it was a pleasure to provide filming and photography services for the official opening of the Denise Coates building and the Keele TEDx event held there a couple of days later.
Simultaneously filming a case study film for our client Care Management in the lovely Newcastle-upon-Tyne was no problem logistically, even if it did add a few miles to the fuel bill.
Our third location was slightly further afield, 3583 miles further afield to be precise. New Castle, Pennsylvania is the home to Steelite USA and a 30-minute drive from there is Youngstown, Ohio, home to the Steelite USA showroom. We spent a fantastic 4 days meeting Steelite staff from around the world and gathering content for their annual Stepping up to the Plate Awards.
The area had a very similar feel to our and Stellite’s hometown Stoke-on-Trent. A former centre for the steel industry, that has lost a lot of its traditional industry. In the heart of America’s “Rust Belt”, it’s fair to say it is not perhaps as booming as it once was. However, just like in Stoke, Steelite provides good jobs and great opportunities and just like in Stoke, the people are incredibly friendly and hard-working. The new state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution facility is an indicator of the investment Steelite are making and a bright future. Everyone Mike and Tom spoke to was so positive and welcoming.
It’s not all work, work, work of course and the guys found time to sample the awesome local craft beer scene. Vintage Estate had over 1200 beers from around the world including of course Burslem’s own Titanic, which helped stave off the homesickness!!
All in all, it doesn’t matter to us whether you need us to film in Longton or Lahore, Penkhull or Pittsburg. Great filmmaking is about having an interest in the people you are filming with and caring enough to tell their story properly. #havecamerawilltravel
